Harmonix talks about Rock Band 2

Harmonix talk about Rock Band in an upcoming Issue of Newsweek, and they hint at developments and features for Rock Band 2.
Newsweek spoke with Harmonix founders Eran Egozy (left) and Alex Rigopulos who mentioned a few ideas that they would like to see in a Rock Band sequel. They didn’t actually say much in the article, but they did “admit they’re trying to land songs from bands like the Beatles, U2 and Springsteen”
Greg LaPiccolo, Harmonix’s head of product development, also chimed in by saying “Now it’s like karaoke,” mentioning that “The long-term ambition is to give players more creative freedom.”
It is expected that the ‘creative freedom’ mentioned refers to being able to create your own guitar leads and vocal fills.
Harmonix have been hinting for a few months now as to a desire for users to create their own tracks, so this announcement seems to be in line.
Another hint mentioned in the article is that Harmonix recently hired 70 new employees. I don’t think they would hire that many just for DLC content. My guess is that we may soon hear of a Rock Band 2 release date.
The full article appears in Newsweek which hits the shelves on May 5th. If you don’t feel like waiting that long, head on over to the Newsweek website at the link below.
